What’s Going To Happen
It’s hard to win when you can’t score.
If Akron isn’t the worst team in the FCS, it’s pushing hard for the honor with an 0-7 start with no offense whatsoever being the main culprit. The Zips have managed seven points or fewer in three of their last four games as part of run of six losses in seven by double-digits from the start – only a 37-29 loss to a miserable UMass team has broken up the true blowout gloom.
Northern Illinois isn’t exactly burning up the scoreboard, and it needs another win very, very badly.
The defending MAC champs have lost five of their last six games with only a three-point win over Ohio breaking the gloom against the FBS teams.
But at least they’re scoring.
The Huskies are great at stopping teams on third downs, and the secondary is having a nice year, but everything else has been a struggle. Fortunately, playing Akron will make everything look just fine.
You want to feel pretty? Hang out with ugly people. You want to feel good about your football team? Play the Zip team that has no pass rush, no offensive consistency, and is just looking for some way to get some points on the board.
It won’t do that enough this week.
