
The Akita prefectural government issued a flood warning for the Fukubenai River in Daisen after heavy rain battered the region on Tuesday morning.
Some roads in the city were flooded, but no injuries were confirmed.
According to the Akita Local Meteorological Office, 170 millimeters of rain fell in Daisen and 162 millimeters fell in Akita City in the 24 hours to 9:40 a.m.
In the northern part of Yurihonjo, a record about 100 millimeters of rain fell in the hour to 5:30 a.m., according to a heavy-rain report released by the Japan Meteorological Agency.
A total of 170 people from 52 households in Daisen and 28 people from 9 households in Yurihonjo were ordered to evacuate.
According to Akita Prefectural Police, heavy rain is thought to have caused the collapse of an about 10-meter-long and 7-meter-wide stretch of road on National Highway Route 7 in Yurihonjo.

The rainy season is believed to have ended in southern Kyushu, 14 days later than average years and four days later than last year, according to an announcement by the JMA on Tuesday. A slow-moving weather front has delayed the end of the rainy season across Japan this year.
