Akiem Hicks to Saints’ Cam Jordan: ‘Your defense can’t hold our jock’

If you follow Bears DE Akiem Hicks on Twitter (@The_Dream99), you most likely have seen him engage in quite a bit of trash talk with other players across the league. Most of it is in good nature, but when it comes to pushing Hicks’ buttons, no one does it like his former team the New Orleans Saints and specifically, former teammate DE Cameron Jordan.

Jordan, appearing on NFL Total Access this week, discussed when he would want the Saints to face certain teams during the 2019 season. The conversation then shifted to the Chicago Bears and Jordan, after saying he wants to play them in week one, had some words for the defending NFC North champions. “I feel like our defense is going to be able to match their (defense’s) intensity. I feel like our defense is going to SET the intensity.” He went on to say “Then you talk about what we can do to their offense, and that’s what I’m excited about”.

Hicks quickly fired back:

Hicks is clearly very confident in his offense and didn’t appreciate the comments made by Jordan. But the exchange didn’t end there:

This back-and-forth got heated real quickly on both ends, with Jordan and Hicks bringing up each team’s heartbreaking playoff loss. Hicks has always held a grudge against the Saints ever since they traded him to New England during the 2015 season and he’s never one to back down when people come after his teammates.

The Bears-Saints matchup will undoubtedly be one of the biggest games of the season for either team, but Jordan won’t get his wish to see them in the season opener, as it’s already been confirmed the Bears will open the 2019 season on Thursday night at home against the Green Bay Packers.

Fans and players shouldn’t have to wait much longer for the 2019 NFL schedule to be released, though, as it’s rumored to be announced as soon as late next week.
