This marks a significant milestone for the new greenfield airport, which aims to ease congestion at Delhi’s IGI Airport and improve air connectivity for the rapidly growing western UP corridor.
Initial Routes to Major Cities
In its launch phase, Akasa Air will connect Noida International Airport with two key destinations—Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai—both of which are major economic and business hubs. These daily non-stop flights are designed to cater to both business travellers and leisure passengers, offering more direct access without the need to travel to Delhi airport.
The airline has positioned these routes as a convenient alternative for residents of Noida, Greater Noida, and nearby regions who previously depended heavily on IGI Airport.
Strategic Expansion Plans
While the initial network will be limited, Akasa Air has indicated broader ambitions for the future. The airline plans to gradually expand operations from Noida International Airport, eventually developing it into a significant base for both domestic and international connectivity.
According to the airline, the move is aligned with India’s evolving aviation infrastructure and the growing demand for decentralised air travel hubs outside metro congestion points.
Why Fares May Be Higher Initially
Reports suggest that airfares from Noida International Airport may initially be higher compared to Delhi IGI routes. One of the key reasons is the elevated User Development Fee (UDF) and other aeronautical charges associated with a new greenfield airport. These operational costs are expected to stabilise over time as passenger traffic increases.
A New Chapter for NCR Aviation
The launch of commercial operations at Noida International Airport is expected to significantly reshape travel patterns in the National Capital Region. With direct connectivity to major cities like Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai, passengers may soon find it more convenient to fly from closer to home rather than navigating long distances to IGI Airport.
Akasa Air’s early entry into this emerging hub signals growing confidence in the airport’s long-term potential as a major aviation gateway for North India.
