Ajinomoto (Thailand) Co, the producer of Ajinomoto seasoning and Birdy ready-to-drink coffee, says amid higher production costs it is not ruling out the possibility of raising product prices.
Diesel prices have declined from their peak in early April, when they exceeded 50 baht per litre, to above 35 baht per litre yesterday.
However, prices remain much higher than before the Middle East conflict, when they were around 30 baht per litre.
According to the Thai Tapioca Starch Association, domestic tapioca starch prices, a key ingredient in the company's production, surpassed 22 baht per kilogramme this week, the highest level in at least a decade.
"There is a possibility we may adjust market prices to maintain product quality and ensure a stable supply," said Satoshi Utagawa, managing director of Ajinomoto (Thailand) Co.
He did not specify which product categories could see price increases or when such changes could take effect.
However, Mr Utagawa emphasised the company is working to minimise the impact of rising costs on consumers.
Regarding the Middle East conflict, the company implemented several initiatives to reduce its impact, including enhancing production efficiency, integrating technology into manufacturing, and considering greater use of local ingredients.
He said oil prices remain a key concern for businesses in the second half of 2026.
Going forward, Ajinomoto views the government's economic stimulus measures as helping to increase domestic consumption.
The company wants to expand its healthier product offerings this year to strengthen its health-focused portfolio, said Mr Utagawa.
Ajinomoto is also increasing its household frozen food business under Ajinomoto Umai, offering authentic Japanese frozen ready-to-eat meals.
The company also launched the Ajinomoto KooRan project, which provides products and shares knowledge catering to the needs of restaurants and street food vendors.
