Ajay Ratra, Abhay Sharma apply for India fielding coach job

MUMBAI: Former India wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra and Abhay Sharma have applied for the post of the fielding coach of the Indian team. The last date for applying for the positions of support staff in the Indian team is November 4.

Ratra, who played six Tests and 12 ODIs, is currently coaching Assam. Sharma has been the fielding coach of the India senior, India A and under-19 teams. Biju George, Subhadeep Ghosh and T Dilip are the others who've applied for the India fielding coach position. All of them have applied for the post at the National Cricket Academy too.

Around two weeks back, Dravid and two selectors, chief selector Chetan Sharma and Abey Kuruvilla interviewed candidates for the position of batting, bowling and fielding coaches at NCA in Bangalore.

In the race for the NCA batting coach job with former India batters Amay Khurasia, Hrishikesh Kanitkar and other domestic veterans Sitanshu Kotak and Mukund Parmar.

Former India leg-spinners Narendra Hirwani and Sairaj Bahutule are in the race to be the spin bowling coach at the NCA.
