Akshay Kumar surprised one and all after he unveiled the first look from his upcoming Marathi film, 'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat' where he will be essaying the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Showering praise on his first look as the Maratha warrior, Ajay Devgn took to his Twitter handle and penned a sweet note for the Khiladi star.

Check out the tweet here:

He wrote, 'Dear @akshaykumar, looking forward to seeing you essay the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Marathi film - वेडात मराठे वीर दौड़ले सात He is my favourite Maratha hero and I’m happy yet another film is being made saluting this great warrior.' Akshay was quick to respond to Ajay's tweet. He wrote, 'Thank you bhai.'

Earlier, Ajay too has been a part of a historical drama titled, 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior'. Directed by Om Raut, the film featured Ajay as the Maratha fighter Tanaji Malusare, while Sharad Kelkar played Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The historical film won three National Awards and Ajay shared the Best Actor award with actor Suriya for his Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru'. It did record-breaking business at the box office. Apart from Ajay, the movie also starred Saif Ali Khan and Kajol in lead roles.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ajay will next be seen in 'Bholaa' co-starring Tabu. Akshay, on the other hand, has films like, 'OMG 2', Selfiee' and the Hindi remake of 'Soorarai Pottru' in his pipeline.
