
Real Madrid are in the running for a fourth straight Champions League triumph as they kick off their knockout stage against Ajax.
Real have won the last three European Cups to cement their status as the undisputed kings of the competition, but Los Blancos are without Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo this season.
Zidane and Ronaldo departed Madrid as Real lost their coach and star player in one summer, but Santiago Solari has steadied the ship after Julen Lopetegui's disastrous reign ended almost as soon as it began.
Big things are still expected of Real despite their squad lacking its usual Galactico edge, but Ajax - and especially Barcelona-bound Frenkie De Jong - will be out to shock the Spanish giants in the last-16.
