Ajax's Perr Schuurs responds to Liverpool transfer speculation after Anfield audition

Perr Schuurs has spoken out on the transfer speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool, saying he's not ready to leave Ajax yet.

The Dutch defender played at Anfield on Tuesday night as Ajax were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool in their Champions League group game.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, as a result of the Reds' defensive injury crisis.

The defender would set Liverpool back around £27million, although the Reds are yet to confirm they are interested in signing Schuurs.

Schuurs, however, has addressed the speculation, but has played down leaving Holland just yet, saying he wants to gain more experience with Ajax first.

"I hear and read it [Liverpool rumours] too," Schuurs told SBS6

"It's my first season as a regular at Ajax. I want to play here for a few more seasons and win prizes. I'm not really working on that yet."

Ajax played well against 2019 Champions League winners Liverpool on Tuesday night, and were unlucky not to get anything from the match.

Schuurs added: "We come here for three points, but we don't get them. We have created enough chances and [should have] earned at least one point.

"It was good, especially in the first half. Of course, I get a yellow card.

"Then it becomes a bit more wait and see, that is a factor in your head. Personally, I can look back on a good game, but I am disappointed that we did not get more."
