United great and current Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar confirmed United's interest in the 23-year-old at the weekend, he said: "It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek."
The former goalkeeper's words have inflamed speculation that Van de Beek could be about to head to Old Trafford and, according to VI, the Amsterdam club have already eyed his replacement.
It's reported that United are preparing a €40millon offer to try and compete with Real Madrid for the Dutchman and that negotiations will start soon. As a result, it's claimed that Klaasen could be brought back to the club from relegation-threatened Werder Bremen to replace him.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s pursuit of Kai Havertz is in the expectation and belief that Sancho will join United, according to reports.
Sancho is United's priority target this summer but Chelsea - the club he supporters growing up - were also said to be interested.
However, after securing deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, it appears Franks Lampard's side have turned their attention to the highly regarded Havertz.
ESPN report that Chelsea are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old, who M.E.N. Sport understands would also be open to a move to Old Trafford this summer.
