Ajax great tips Matthijs de Ligt for Man City move

Manchester City have been mentioned as one of five clubs that would suit Matthijs de Ligt as speculation surrounding the Ajax captain's future intensifies.

De Ligt is expected to leave Ajax this summer and his situation is being monitored by a host of Europe's top clubs.

Barcelona are the favourites to land the teenager but Ronald de Boer believes there are several clubs that he could end up at - and City is one of them.

"He is so strong, so determined to be a winner," De Boer told talkSPORT of De Ligt. "He's unbelievable If you see him in front of a camera, his interviews, for a 19-year-old boy, I've never seen that before.

"For me he can play in every team, if he goes to a defending team or an attacking team he can play in every team because he's so good.

"He can easily come to the Premier League, but he can choose from every team in the world. Frenkie De Jong went for £75million, but in my opinion, De Ligt is further in his qualities, he's more ready to make that step than Frenkie De Jong.

Man City can finally break the title race pattern vs Liverpool FC against Leicester City

"It is up to him what he wants to do, for me he has to look for a team that he wants. Whether he wants to have fun playing attacking football, have the ball most of time, that's nice, or go to a team that gives the ball to the opponent.

"For me, Barcelona, City, Liverpool, PSG. Those teams I think that I would give advice to go there, but all the other teams, even Tottenham or whatever, are great teams to play for."
