Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt provides transfer update amid Manchester United and Man City speculation

Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt admits he still has a decision to make in regards to his transfer future.

The 19-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Ajax at the end of the season after an incredible season which has seen his side win a domestic double and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Manchester United and Man City are both in the market to sign a new centre-back in the summer transfer window with De Ligt a standout candidate for both teams.

The Ajax captain enjoyed another memorable night on Wednesday as he helped his side win their first league title in five years with a 4-1 win over De Graafschap.

Speaking after the title triumph, De Ligt insisted he needs more time to decide his future and played down the suggestion he will join Frenkie de Jong at Barcelona this summer.

"This is not the time to talk about my future," he told Fox Sports.

"I don't know if I will go with Frenkie de Jong [to Barcelona]. I still have to analyse things and see everything. We'll see what happens.

"I cannot say anything. We'll see at the end of summer. There is nothing yet."

The young centre-back has been a pivotal figure in the resurgence at Ajax, and speaking after their latest piece of silverware De Ligt spoke of his immense pride.

He added: "It is indescribable. We have been craving this for five years.

"I enjoyed the cup, the competition, the Champions League and especially the team spirit."
