Ajax boss sends warning to Tottenham ahead of Champions League semi-final second leg

Ajax boss Eric ten Hag has warned Tottenham they can beat them all over again.

Ten Hag fears a Tottenham backlash from the first leg but insists Ajax will go all-out attack rather than sit back and defend their slender lead.

Ten Hag said: “We have to win the match. We will play for that, and focus on that. We will play to our own strength and with respect for adversary – we will play to our own strength. We have to win. It’s a new game we have to play.

"Last week the away goal was important – we made it and won. We have to finish at home. That will demand something from our mindset.

“We must start from 0-0, play our own game in the full arena, incredible atmosphere. That will help us, we have to do it ourselves, stay close to ourselves, and keep playing our style.

"If we play our own strength, we have self confidence, we are fit ,we are eager, we are ready, we know what we play for.

“We’ve experienced it before with Juventus and Real Madrid, first match you saw during it the team has ability to adapt to play at higher level.

“We have to make that step tomorrow, and take it with us, last week’s experience. Tomorrow we will have to make the step, transcend boundaries.”

What Matthijs de Ligt told Man Utd as Ajax captain rejected £60million transfer

Ajax’s former Manchester United defender Daley Blind admits the season has been a dream after retuning to Amsterdam from Old Trafford last summer.

Blind added: “I never looked at it as a step back. I wanted to play, play in the champions league and no-one could have predicted that.

“I’m very happy that I’ve returned. You don’t expect this at the beginning of the season. I’m happy to be part of this Ajax, this special period. I’m very proud that I can continue like this.

Ajax fans cannot scare Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino after playing-days dramas

“We have to play from the start, we will have to go from the 0-0, have to be aggressive and show ourselves in the striking aspect.

“We’re in a good phase, good flow. They will approach this like a game on its own. We will have to play to win.

“We’re not nervous, a bit of healthy tension is good. Each match is important on its own, they are all important matches and you have to make the best of it and you have to do that.”
