Ajax boss Erik ten Hag responds to fresh Manchester United links with simple message

Erik ten Hag has insisted he has "no thoughts on the future" following heavy links to Manchester United.

Ralf Rangnick was appointed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's interim successor in November and the German will move upstairs at the end of the season. United's search for a permanent manager is now underway and Ten Hag is a candidate for the position.

Ten Hag has been the mastermind behind Ajax's renaissance in the Champions League in recent seasons. The 52-year-old has delivered silverware at the Dutch giants but he is yet to be tested at a higher level than the Eredivisie.

However, the manner in which Ten Hag has Ajax playing football in the Champions League has meant he's now a leading candidate for the United job and reports linking him with an Old Trafford switch are now notably beginning to intensify. Ten Hag was asked about such reports this week and he didn't give much away.

“At the moment, I am only working with Ajax and have no further thoughts on the future," Ten Hag said, as quoted by Trouw. "The focus is on this season. Right now I shouldn’t be the theme. The theme is: how are we going to win games?”
