Erik ten Hag has admitted that he is 'ready' for a new 'challenge' away from Ajax.
Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last month and Ajax boss Ten Hag was among the candidates that were heavily linked with becoming the Norwegian's successor, however, United have since appointed Ralf Rangnick, albeit that's on an interim basis.
Rangnick is set for six months on the touchline before he moves into a consultancy role for two tears, which means United will be searching for a permanent manager at the end of the season and it seems that appointment will be similar in style to Rangnick.
Ten Hag, who has admirers at United, could be the perfect candidate to build on Rangnick's work and he's now dropped a massive hint on his future.
"I think I'm ready for it [coaching abroad]. I would be happy to take up that challenge." Ten Hag told de Volkskrant
“But I'm not chasing it. If it turns out that that step will never come, I will not say that my coaching career has failed.
"But I think I have sufficient competencies to take on that challenge."
Ten Hag's contract at Ajax expires in the summer of 2023.
