AJ Pritchard takes savage swipe at Strictly as he swaps show for I'm A Celebrity

AJ Pritchard confessed taking part in I'm A Celebrity 2020 is a dream come true, even more so than appearing on Strictly Come Dancing it seems.

There was a last-minute scare for Strictly's AJ as he has tested positive for coronavirus in the last couple of weeks.

But insiders on the show say he shows no ill effects of the disease, and will have isolated for more than the Government's recommended 10-day period by the time the show starts.

As long as he now tests negative several times, he will be allowed on the show and he is expected to complete the line-up.

Ahead of his show fate being confirmed, despite it seeming likely he will appear, the star shared his excitement to join the line-up.

He even appeared to take a swipe at the BBC series he quit last year, confessing he thought the jungle show was "better".

AJ said of taking part: "I was so excited to watch the return of Strictly this Autumn, but now I am going to be on an even better show! I can’t wait!"

He's still in touch with his former co-stars though, and he believes they will be watching him.

AJ is hoping people see a different side to him too, before teasing he can be pretty competitive - which should come in handy during the Bushtucker Trials.

He said: "People see me on Strictly with fake tan and sparkles but nobody knows me.

"It will be nice for people to see me and get to know who I am."

AJ added: "I am unbelievably competitive and whatever the challenge is, I will go for it.

"I will give everything 110 per cent. I really appreciate life and I never take anything for granted. I will be trying to come back with all the stars every single time and if I don’t, I think I will be disappointed."

One thing that could spell trouble for him is the famous challenges though, with him spilling: "Being trapped in a confined space will get to me for sure. And heights are not my friend too much either!"

I'm A Celebrity 2020 launches on Sunday November 15, on ITV.
