AJ Pritchard says I'm A Celebrity 'will show the real me after shackles of Strictly'

AJ Pritchard has revealed that being a campmate in the upcoming I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will fulfil a "childhood dream".

The 26-year-old former Strictly Come Dancing professional has been revealed in the line-up for the new series on ITV and he can't wait to share the 'real me' with the viewers at home.

AJ quit the BBC dance show after the last series, so that he could take on opportunities offered to him which he couldn't agree to while being under the Strictly umbrella.

His first major project since leaving Auntie Beeb will be to face the freezing November weather in North Wales, after the show relocated to Gwrych Castle following restrictions on travelling dictated by the coronavirus pandemic.

After his inclusion in this year's show was confirmed on Sunday evening, the dancer took to Twitter to tell his fans that he can't wait to be involved and was looking forward to taking on the trials.

In the first of two messages to fans, AJ wrote: "I’m absolutely ecstatic to be taking part in @imacelebrity...this has always been a childhood dream of mine to take part in, as I have watched every series.

"I can’t wait for everyone to get to know me more. I want to do as many trails as possible in the castle [sic]".

AJ has promised to bring some joy to the national lockdown, whether it is laughing at him or with him.

He continued in a second tweet: "I want to make you all laugh with/at me.. during this tough time of lockdown 2.0. #Enjoy Lots of Love, see you @ 9pm every night @ITV.. Stay Safe, wish me luck AJ."

This year's camp mates: Vernon Kay, Beverley Callard, Sir Mo Farah CBE, Jessica Plummer, Shane Richie, Victoria Derbyshire, AJ Pritchard, Giovanna Fletcher, Hollie Arnold MBE and Jordan North (PA)

AJ did take a cheeky swipe at his old show though, as he admitted that I'm A Celeb is "better" than Strictly.

He said: "I was so excited to watch the return of Strictly this Autumn, but now I am going to be on an even better show! I can’t wait!"
