AJ Pritchard quits Strictly Come Dancing to pursue presenting career with brother Curtis

Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard has announced that he has quit the show after four years.

The 25-year-old said it was time to move on and pursue a career in presenting with his brother Curtis.

Taking to Twitter, he said: "I have some news for you all. Please see the below statement from my team also sending my love to everyone in this difficult time, please keep safe. AJ x

Followed by the statement:"After four years on Strictly Come Dancing, AJ has decided the time is right to leave the show and follow his dreams to explore opportunities in the presenting world alongside his brother Curtis.

"AJ would like to thank the team at Strictly and everyone at the BBC for giving him such a brilliant opportunity."

He added: "AJ would also like to send his love and gratitude to all who have followed him and supported his career. He is excited for you all to join him on the next chapter of his journey."

Last year, AJ partnered with YouTube star Saffron Barker, and has previously danced with Saturdays singer Mollie King and Paralympian Lauren Steadman.

In 2016, AJ reached the semi-final with actress Claudia Fragapane.

Only last week AJ had to cancel his tour with brother Curtis due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The brothers had been due to perform four more gigs on their AJ Live 2020 tour, which have now been postponed until further notice.

Curtis is also a dancer but found fame when he appeared on the 2019 season of Love Island where he was coupled up with Irish bombshell Maura Higgins.

The pair came fourth but split earlier this month.
