AJ Pritchard quits Strictly Come Dancing to pursue different career

AJ Pritchard has revealed he has quit Strictly Come Dancing.

In another shock for Strictly fans, following Kevin Clifton's departure from the BBC show a few weeks ago, AJ confirmed the news by posting a statement not from him, but his management on Thursday afternoon.

He wrote: "I have some news for you all. Please see the below statement from my team also sending my love to everyone in this difficult time, please keep safe. AJ."

And the statement, addressing AJ's desire to go into TV presenting, read: "After four years on Strictly Come Dancing, AJ has decided the time is right to leave the show and follow his dreams to explore opportunities in the presenting world alongside his brother Curtis.

"AJ would like to thank the team at Strictly and everyone at the BBC for giving him such a brilliant opportunity."

"AJ would also like to send his love and gratitude to all who have followed him and supported his career. He is excited for you all to join him on the next chapter of his journey."

Fans have reacted with sadness to the announcement. One tweeted: "this is so sad, i’m gonna cry," and another reacted: "Awww no not you & Kevin. Good luck & thanks for the entertainment."

AJ had been on Strictly with his partners including Saffron Barker, who was one of the favourites to win the last series before her shock exit.
