Council chiefs have confirmed they will bring back an airshow as part of plans to stage a large scale event next year.
Ayr will once again host the attraction - this time under new organisers.
Bosses at South Ayrshire Council announced on Wednesday that they had appointed STEM charity theskyLAB as "strategic partner" for a brand new event.
Following calls to clarify the nature of their plans, they have confirmed the airshow project just 48 hours later.
The new-look airshow is to underpin a calendar of events for 2023 which councillors are set to rubber stamp.
Ayrshire Live understands talks are already underway with a range of aircraft display teams who could take to the skies next Autumn.
Tourism spokesman, Councillor Alec Clark, said: “The prospect of bringing a brand new airshow to South Ayrshire in 2023 is extremely exciting, it would be a fantastic addition to our portfolio of events for 2023.
“We want to entice more tourists to the area and I’m positive a brand new air show could do just that.”
Sport and Leisure spokesman, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: “Leisure plays a key role in South Ayrshire and it’s important that we have a range of events that locals and visitors can enjoy.
“The proposed brand new airshow would definitely be a highlight on the leisure calendar for 2023.”
Council leader, Martin Dowey, added: “After further discussions with theSKYLAB, I’m delighted to announce that we will work with them to prepare a delivery plan for a proposed new airshow, which we hope to bring to Ayr next year, along with a number of other events which will promote South Ayrshire as a fantastic destination.
“This is truly exciting news for the council and people of South Ayrshire."
