Airport chiefs have launched a crackdown on departure lounge booze-ups by rowdy passengers.
Heathrow, Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands have all introduced Pubwatch and Best Bar None measures to stamp out disruptive behaviour.
They warn that anyone causing mayhem in terminal bars could be stopped from boarding flights.
It is hoped the measures will curb not only trouble in airports but on jets.
A Manchester Airport Group spokesman said: “Schemes like Best Bar None are taking place across all our airports, where our retail partners demonstrate the highest standard of responsible alcohol sales.
“They sit alongside new technology that allows airport, airline, bar and retail staff to make each other aware of any potential disruption caused by excessive alcohol consumption.”
MAG, which includes Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands, is the first in the UK to sign up to the Best Bar None initiative.
It allows bar staff, security officers and police to share information on troublemakers.
Meanwhile Heathrow has launched a Pubwatch scheme, similar to those used in UK towns and cities, which could see travellers grounded.
National Pubwatch chairman Steve Baker said: “Heathrow is very much like a small town and has the same problems.”
A Heathrow spokeswoman said: “Disruptive passenger behaviour is rare but we recognise its potential impact.”
