Airport staff in the UK are to stage a 48-hour strike days before Christmas in a row over pay.
More than 1,500 check-in staff, baggage handlers and cargo crew at 18 airports will strike for two daysfrom December 23 in a long-running pay dispute, Unite said.
The union, which represents British Airways cabin crew, said thousands of staff working for BA have voted “overwhelmingly in favour of strike action over poverty pay and broken promises”.
British Airways said it was focused on resolving the dispute swiftly and without disruption, adding: “We are extremely disappointed that the union is creating uncertainty for our customers.”
In past disputes, BA has chartered in other airlines to operate some flights.
