Airport security stunned to find cat in hand luggage after couple accidentally packed her

Airport security got a shock when they found a cat in a couple's hand luggage.

Nick and Voirrey Coole couldn't believe it when they were pulled aside by airport staff who found their moggy in their bag.

Their furry friend had managed to sneak into their hand luggage while they were packing for a 40th birthday trip to New York.

The pair were taken into a side room and questioned by security at Isle of Man airport.

The Manchester Evening News spoke to Nick, who said airport staff were "all very puzzled".

He joked Candy is always looking for bags, boxes and tight spaces to hide in.

"Our hand luggage didn’t have much in so we could bring shopping home," Nick, from the Isle of Man, said.

"But Candy, our cat, found a way in and off to the airport we all went.

"Airport security were all very puzzled and repeatedly asked if the bag was ours after it had been through the scanner."

But despite the bizarre situation, the couple said security were "awesome" and they all had a laugh when they realised it was an honest mistake.

The kitty was even picked up by friends so the pair could still make their flight to the US.
