Airport passenger didn't realise that she left her husband behind

Thousands of holidaygoers will have made their way through the gates of East Midlands Airport in 2019.

And with the frequency of people who pass through, there's bound to be things that get left behind in the process.

One such 'item' was in fact someone's husband, NottinghamshireLive reports.

A spokesman for East Midlands Airport said a passenger boarded a plane without realising her husband was not sitting with her.

Just as the plane began to depart the woman alerted the flight attendants that her husband was, to her surprise, still in the airport.

The plane then returned to its stand and allowed her husband to board.

East Midlands Airport revealed a number of other bizarre items were left behind over the course of 2019, including:

  • A rolling pin
  • An air conditioning unit
  • A revolving sprinkler
  • Blood sugar machine
  • Fishing licence
  • Angel lantern with spinning glitter feature
  • Zimmer frame
  • Drills and a wrench kit, including a child's toy Bosch drill

Over the Christmas and New Year period alone more than 65,000 passengers were expected to pass through the airport.
