Airport business park developers say scheme could aid North East recovery

Developers behind a new business park in the North East say it could help play a part in the region’s recovery after the coronavirus lockdown is eased.

Property developer Tynexe Commercial - a joint venture between Dysart Developments Limited and Newcastle City Council - has currently paused work on AirView Park, a business park next to Newcastle International Airport which will provide a new HQ for housebuilders Bellway.

The development has Enterprise Zone status and Tynexe said interest in the site has been encouraging.

Mike Clark, development director of Tynexe Commercial Ltd and Dysart Developments Ltd explained, “The North East has always had a ‘can-do’ attitude and despite the unprecedented situation the country is now facing, I’m sure that we will, as a region, come back stronger and with greater determination. Business confidence will return and that will bring new investment, growth and opportunities for companies to plan, once again, for the future.

“As developers, we are in somewhat of a fortunate position as AirView Park offers benefits that no other site can here in the North East. Having Bellway plc already part-occupying the development, this demonstrates how attractive it is.

“Once Government restrictions are lifted and business resumes, commercial activities should start to return very quickly, no more so than at the Airport, one of our key stakeholders only minutes away.

“So, for companies which had planned to look for new accommodation or a North East base, or whose operational requirements may now have changed due to the pandemic, I’d encourage them to still get in touch as we are very much looking ahead and can easily adapt bespoke design requirements into one of the buildings not yet out of the ground.”

When complete, AirView Park will offer 175,000 sq ft of accommodation close to both the airport and the Callerton Station Metro station.

Developers Tynexe Commercial was originally formed to deliver regeneration projects in the west end of Newcastle, but has gone on to develop residential, commercial and mixed-use regeneration schemes across the city, including Armstrong Industrial Park and the Newcastle Eagles Stadium.
