Airlines that are still flying to Spain despite FCO warning - Ryanair, EasyJet and more

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has reversed guidance on travel to Spain, and is once again advising against all but essential travel to the country.

Spain was also removed from the government's list of countries that are exempt from quarantine on arrival in England due to a spike in coronavirus cases in several regions.

Travellers who are currently in Spain will now face a two-week period of self-isolation on return to the UK, which if broken can result in a fine of up to £1,000.

But how have the big airlines reacted to this news, and are flights to Spain still operating?

Ryanair

Ryanair has confirmed it will continue flights in and out of Spain, despite the mandatory quarantine for arrivals in England.

EasyJet

EasyJet is currently planning to operate its scheduled flights to Spain, but has said it will monitor the situation closely.

However, all package holidays have been cancelled until 31 July.

For customers who wish to amend their flights due to the new travel guidance, those flying within 14 days can transfer their flights without a change fee, but any changes must be made by 30 July.

British Airways

The airline confirmed that it will continue to operate flights to Spain as normal.

Customers who no longer wish to travel to or from Spain can, however, claim a voucher to use at a later date.

TUI

TUI has announced that it has suspended all holidays to mainland Spain up to and including 10 August, and to the Balearic and Canary Islands up to and including 4 August.

It has stated that customers due to travel to Spain between 27 July and 9 August are able to amend their holidays or receive a full refund.

All customers currently abroad will be able to return on their intended flight home.

Jet2

Jet2 has suspended all flights to mainland Spain until 17 August, and to the Balearic and Canary Islands until 10 August.

Inbound flights from Spain to the UK up to 3 August will go ahead as planned, but customers returning to the UK from 4 to 17 August will be contacted to discuss their options.
