Several airlines have sought approval to increase charges for ticketing services rendered offline, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).
CAAT director-general Chula Sukmanop said the Civil Aviation Board's last meeting touched on the higher ticketing service charges imposed by airlines.
He said the board was informed the hikes were based on carriers' requests. Some have already been given the green light to proceed.
Others were allowed to raise the fees a long time ago, Mr Chula said.
He said the CAAT would consider approving the proposed charges by taking into account airlines' related costs, ranging from office lease payments and staff expenses to the cost of renting booths.
"If passengers don't buy their tickets via online systems or websites, then they will have to shoulder such fees," Mr Chula said.
He said the highest charge of 600 baht was being imposed by Thai Airways International on its international flights. But that is waived if the tickets are bought using its website.
