Airline shares are on the rise after the UK finally reopened its airspace last night, following six days of disruption from the Icelandic volcanic ash.

British Airways has climbed 2.9p to 236.8p, while Easyjet has added 8p to 487.5p and Ryanair was lifted 2.55% to €3.925. Dart Group, owner of low cost airline Jet2.com, is up 6p to 65p, while in Europe Lufthansa has put on nearly 1% and SAS is up more than 2%.

Yesterday analysts at HSBC estimated that if the shutdown lasted for 10 days it would wipe out virtually all of this year's profits at BA and Lufthansa.
