Airdrieonians unveil training return and streaming plans ahead of Betfred Cup kick-off

Airdrieonians have taken a step forward to the return of football at the Penny Cars Stadium in the midst of the pandemic.

The Diamonds stars will be expected to return on August 15 with staff set to return to work on a part-time basis to prepare the facilties.

The club will play pre-season friendlies in September as they warm up for the Betfred Cup campaign, which is set to begin on October 6.

Fans will also be able to watch games from home next season if crowds remain banned from New Broomfield or fans feel safer watching from home due the Covid-19 pandemic with the Pixellot technology system.

The Airdrie statement read: "There has been a lot of work going on behind-the-scenes to plan for the coming season and ensure that our stadium is ready to meet the challenges that COVID-19 has inflicted upon us.
