However, having been tempted to join the Diamonds in January, he reached an agreement with the Station Park club to tear up his deal and move to the Penny Cars Stadium.

He believes it’s a ideal match for both his family, work life and to make sure he can “keep pulling the boots on every Saturday.”

The former Manchester United youngster said: “Airdrie were trying to get me to come in last January, and I was keen to join. However, the situation at the time for both myself and the club didn’t allow it to happen.

"I’ve got a young family and a wife, and my course as well. I was having to miss training on a Thursday, and to be fair they were fine with that last season.

“This season they wanted me to come up for all the sessions, and I couldn’t commit to the two hour drive there and back.

"So we came together and decided it would be in the best interest of all parties if I moved on. I heard that Airdrie were interested again and that really decided it for me. “
