Airdrie woman banned from road for driving having taken "drink or drugs"

A Petersburn woman has been banned from the road for a year after driving on her home street while “unfit through drink or drugs”.

Laura McInness put herself at tremendous risk by getting behind the wheel on Bramley Place, while in no fit state to drive, on January 4.

In a miserable start to 2019, the 39-year-old’s foolish actions were discovered by police and McInness was taken into custody.

McInness pled guilty and was sentenced at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week after social work background reports.

Sheriff Petra Collins informed McInness: “You will be disqualified [from driving] for 12 months.

“I have discounted this from 18 months due to your plea.

“You will also be fined £300, which is reduced from £450 because of your plea.”
