Airdrie were getting their swagger back, so abandonment is a blow, says boss

Airdrie boss Ian Murray admits it was a blow to see today's League One clash at Broadwood abandoned due to fog, and says his side were just getting into their stride.

Gabby McGill had put the Diamonds 2-1 up moments into the second half, and just minutes before referee Barry Cook halted the game to see if the thick fog would lift.

Though play was waved back on a few minutes later, it was abandoned in 70 minutes, and Murray says a repeat of his side's performance will see them take all three points when it's replayed.

Murray said: "The decision is disappointing. There was fog there, but we were quite deep into the game - but it's outwith our control so we don't get too wrapped up in it at the moment.

"We'll wait and see what happens, and if we have to do it again, we have to do it again.

"The challenge for us is to come back down here and replicate that performance, and if we do we'll win the game."

Murray added: "We take the positives from today, in terms of our performance, which was really, really good, and we deserved to be winning the game - and probably by a little bit more - but we had to be playing well, because Clyde are a decent side.

"The positives from me are that the boys looked back to the way they were three or four weeks ago, the swagger was back in the five going forward and they controlled the game at the back.

"I'm really happy with the players, delighted for them, but disappointed for both sets of players and supporters."

McGill took a clattering as he bulleted the ball into the net to put Airdrie 2-1 up, and was helped off moments later with what looks like a nasty knee injury.

Murray says it doesn't look good for the 21-year-old Englishman.

He said: "He's away to hospital at the moment so it doesn't look fantastic for Gabby. I'm gutted for him, he's had a hard time with injuries and he shows his desire to put that ball in the net, but it looked as if his knee had taken a wee bit of a bad one.

"We just need to wait and see; the early prognosis doesn't look great, but we'll have much more information as the days go on."
