Airdrie urge SPFL clubs to 'do the right thing' with reconstruction vote

Airdrie have pleaded with fellow SPFL clubs to ‘do the right thing’ with the latest league reconstruction vote.

All 42 clubs have been urged to vote on a 14-10-10-10 set-up by Monday, and while the club’s director of football Stuart Millar won’t say which way the Diamonds are going to vote, he says he hopes a line can be drawn under reconstruction and they can move on to playing football again.

He said: “It has been a rollercoaster, certainly for the last number of weeks, there have been more changes than anything else along the way, but we have been asked to vote on 14-10-10-10 by Monday.

“We will be voting on that structure and Airdrie will keep their cards close to their chest and decide what’s best. We will vote in the appropriate manner and hopefully, for the sake of Scottish football, the member clubs make the right decision and we can take the game forward again.

“I think all fans are getting fed up with this, to be honest, and I’m getting fed up reading and hearing about it, so it’s time to draw a line under it, for players, staff, managers, coaches, everybody – we need to have a target we can maybe aim for, and that’s getting football played again.

“We’ll keep dignified, just as we have done throughout this process. It’s a democratic society we’re in, and we will go with the majority and hopefully for the sake of Scottish football the member clubs make the right decision.

“We will assess everything before we decide what the best decision is for Airdrie and ultimately for the greater good for Scottish football.”
