Man arrested after 26-year-old suffers facial injury at Airdrie Tesco

A man has been rushed to hospital after suffering a facial injury at a Tesco in Airdrie.

Officers were called to the supermarket in the North Lanarkshire town at around 11.15am this morning following reports of a disturbance.

One witness said: "Officers chased a man and tackled him to the ground."

A 26-year-old man was rushed to Monklands hospital after he sustained a facial injury.

A 30-year-old man has now been arrested.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police were called to reports of a man being assaulted at around 11.15am this morning.

"A 30-year-old man has since been arrested."

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 1121 to attend an incident at Airdre Retail Park.

"We dispatched a paramedic response unit and an ambulance and a patient was transported to University Hospital Monklands."
