Airdrie teen raises enough funds to head to USA for world championships

An Airdrie teen is preparing to head off to the USA to compete on the global stage thanks to the support of local sponsors.

Robyn Ward is performing this month at the world championships of performing arts.

The 13-year-old will represent Great Britain in Los Angeles, but only after managing to raise the necessary funds.

Four-figures was raised at a recent fundraising night in her hometown alongside generous sponsorship grants.

Robyn's proud mum Wendy said: "We're all set for the competition and the £7000 has been raised.

"I can't thank Robyn's sponsors enough; Albert Batlerr, Teleperformance, K&T Plant Hire, Bell Decorators, WKW Accounting, Covenburn Contracts and the Airdrie Academy PTA.

"I'd like to thank everyone who attended the fundraising night too and participated in the raffle and bought cakes.

"You've all helped Robyn realise her dream."
