Airdrie taxi rank attack: Woman punched in the face waiting for cab in town centre

A 46-year-old woman suffered a 'serious facial injury' after being punched in the face in Airdrie town centre.

The lady was queueing at the taxi rank on Stirling Street around 10.45pm on Saturday, July 10.

She was approached by an attacker who punched her, seriously injuring her face.

The lady was taken to University Hospital Monklands for treatment.

Officers are now appealing for information and wishing to speak to anyone who was in the taxi rank at that time or who might have dash cam footage.

Detective Constable David Williamson said: “This was a serious assault and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened, particularly if they were in the taxi queue or walking past at the time.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been driving in the area and has dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation.

“Anyone who can help can contact us on 101, quoting incident 4329 of Saturday, 10 July, 2021, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
