Airdrie star's nightmare debut with red card after FOUR minutes

Airdrie star Kyle Turner's debut lasted just four minutes before he was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.

The on-loan Dunfermline midfielder's high challenge on Ryan Conroy on half-way resulted in referee Steven Kirkland sending him for a very early bath.

Airdrie held out until the 66th minute when a shot by Jordon Brown gave Peterhead what is a crucial winner, denting Ian Murray's hopes of earning promotion with the Diamonds.

While Airdrie are still fourth in League One, they are level on 16 points with Partick Thistle, East Fife and Peterhead, and four points off second-placed Cove Rangers.

It was considered quite the coup for Airdrie to have signed 23-year-old Turner on loan from Dunfermline, though he has fallen out of favour at the Pars after being unable to agree a new contract.

The move was completed after an agreement was reached for Kyle MacDonald to remain at East End Park - he was originally to return on loan to Airdrie until the end of this season.
