Airdrie ravaged by Covid as Queen's Park match called off after Diamonds request

Airdrie's League One match with Queen's Park on Saturday has been postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak at the Penny Cars Stadium club.

The Diamonds made a postponement request to the SPFL after a number of positive Covid cases and close contacts were identified ahead of Saturday's match.

Ian Murray's side lost to Montrose on Tuesday and sit fourth in the third tier, level on points with Queen's Park, who are one place above them.

It remains to be seen how much of an impact this has on Airdrie's upcoming league schedule.

An SPFL statement reads: “After reviewing the information provided by Airdrieonians, Saturday’s match between Airdrieonians and Queen’s Park has been postponed.

"A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

"Airdrieonians requested that the SPFL postpone the fixture as, due to positive Covid cases and close contacts, they do not have sufficient players available to fulfil the fixture."
