Airdrie pupils' Christmas gift from supermarket

Pupils and staff at an Airdrie school received a sweet treat for Christmas thanks to generous staff at a local supermarket.

Morrisons in Airdrie handed over 175 selection boxes to youngsters at Chapelside Primary, as well as gifts for teachers in recognition of their “outstanding hard work through this troubled year”.

The school is close to the hearts of store manager Peter Kennedy and duty manager Christopher McLean, who are both former pupils.

Christopher said: “We heard they were giving gifts to the children and felt the need to reach out and donate.”
