Airdrie must turn performances into points, says Rhys McCabe

Rhys McCabe says Airdrie must turn performances into points after a second defeat in three league games.

Diamonds - who lost their League One opener to Montrose - were beaten 2-1 by 10-man Falkirk last Saturday and let a 2-0 lead slip with 10 men at Dumbarton the previous week, despite playing well in both games.

They now face a tricky trip to Peterhead tomorrow desperate for their first win of the campaign.

And midfielder McCabe said: “It’s criminal [they've not won yet]. The old cliché is that you’d be happy to be playing badly, if you get the win.

“We are playing well but we aren’t picking up the points.

"That’s the frustrating thing because you can totally accept it when it’s not your day.

“We need to make sure that we win at the weekend and we can focus on the performance after.”

McCabe, who started his career with Rangers, joined Ian Murray's men in the summer after making the switch from Championship side Queen of the South.

Result haven't gone hi sway yet, but he insists he is enjoying the move to Monklands.

He added: "I'm loving it.

"Everybody has been great with me but it’s just a shame that we haven’t started the season as we’d have liked.

“But If we continue to put in performances we will be fine."

Airdrie are currently joint bottom of the table with East Fife, with one point from three games.
