Airdrie might be forced into transfer business after Covid chaos, admits Ian Murray

Ian Murray admits Airdrie’s Covid outbreak might affect his transfer business before the window closes.

The deadline for Scottish clubs to sign players is Tuesday at midnight and the Diamonds boss might be forced into business.

Five Airdrie players recorded positive tests last week to throw their preparations for Peterhead into chaos, although they still pulled off a 3-2 win at Balmoor.

Yesterday, it was announced that Saturday's match with Alloa has been postponed with the club unable to field a team.

Murray remains unsure how those players will feel moving forward and admits he might be forced into the market.

Speaking before yesterday's postponement, Murray said: “Covid can affect and disrupt your plans.

"We didn’t have any plans to add to the squad before this situation came about.

“We need to assess it and see where we are in terms of numbers.

“We need to see how the guys who contracted Covid are feeling and if they’re healthy. It affects everybody differently.

“If something comes up that interests then we will look at it but I’ve been really happy with the squad for the last month.

“It’s just about getting the players to gel.

"But if something comes up that is too good to turn down then we will definitely look at it.”
