Airdrie hammer attack: man attacked in own home by gang of armed thugs

Police are appealing for information after four unidentified men gained entry into a house in Airdrie and attacked a man with hammers.

The shocking incident happened around 5pm on Tuesday (December 8) in Moffathill in the Gartness area.

The 39-year-old suffered injuries to his head which required hospital treatment.

Police believe the attack was targeted with no risk to the wider public.

Detective Constable Paul James of Lanarkshire CID said: "Our investigation into this incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone with information or who saw any suspicious activity around the area on Tuesday to come forward.

"Our enquiries so far suggest this was a targeted attack with no risk to the wider public.

"Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident 1310 of 8 December, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
