Ian Murray insists their display against Queen’s Park for the majority of the 90 minutes in last Friday night’s SPFL Trust Trophy exit should give them the belief to topple the League One leaders when the sides meet again this afternoon.
The Diamonds head to Firhill for the re-match, trailing the Spiders by seven points in the table with a game in hand.
And Murray, whose side lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes, said: “Queens have had a great start; they beat Falkirk, they beat Cove and this is a game they’ll fancy, being at home.
“But we fancy it as well.

"We were comfortable for most of the game on Friday and we know if we play to our capabilities we’ve got a heck of a chance.
“We are going there to win the game and we all believe we can do that - we all want to be enjoying our weekend.
“We’ve played them twice in two cup competitions this season already. We’ve won one on pens and they won the other on pens, so it’s been fine lines.
“In general terms, our points tally doesn’t reflect our performances.
“But it’s still very early days in the season.”
Airdrie’s match with Alloa that was postponed last week due to the club’s Covid outbreak has now been rescheduled for Tuesday night, so it’s a big few days for the club.

Murray added: “Our general play has been better than last season, but we are looking to go Queens and get a win that will get us in the mix [in the league], and in good shape for Tuesday night at Alloa as well."
The Diamonds will still be without a number of key players wit Max Currie, Josh Kerr and Salim Kouider-Aïssa among those missing out alongside Luke Lyons, who recently underwent shoulder surgery.
