Airdrie drug dealer admits cocaine possession

A DRUG dealer from Airdrie has admitted being in possession of cocaine with intent to supply to others.

Jason Robertson, 28, was caught with the Class A drug at his Mossview Crescent home on August 2 last year.

Prosecutor Agnes Meek told Airdrie Sheriff Court last week: “He appeared hesitant when he was approached by police.

“He was searched, as was his home.

“The drugs found had a street value of £1200.”

Robertson’s lawyer said: “He does not seek to minimise the offence and realises this is a serious matter.”

Sheriff Fergus Thomson told Robertson: “This is clearly a serious matter and one that I could deal with
by way of a custodial sentence.”

Robertson was put on a community payback order, which included supervision and has to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.

This was reduced from 120 hours because of his early guilty plea.

Robertson was ordered to complete the work within six months.

The sheriff told him that the order was an alternative to a custodial sentence.
