Airdrie could have hammered East Fife but for half-time break, says striker

Jordan Allan reckons half-time saved East Fife from a pummelling from Airdrie, but was happy to get on the score-sheet.

The 23-year-old has been in and out of the team this season but netted the opener inside two minutes and then set up strikes for Adam Frizzell and Dylan Easton as the Diamonds raced into a 3-0 interval lead.

Allan says two marginal offside decisions prevented the Lanarkshire side from putting the game out of sight in the first period, but was pleased with his impact on the game.

The win was Airdrie's fourth in a row, and cemented third place for them in League One.

He said: "Half-time came at the wrong time for us, we could have scored more goals and we had two offsides as well!

"I'm happy to get on the score-sheet, I want to keep going, kick on and hopefully get another couple.

"I'm delighted with it. When the chance comes you've got to take it, and I think I've done that.

"It's a good win and it's all about keeping the run going - it's all you can do.

"Every game is a tough game, but you just take it one at a time."

The win cemented Airdrie's third place in the League One table, leaving them a point off second-placed Montrose as they await the visit of Falkirk on Saturday.

Allan, who is in his third spell at the club having come through the youth set-up and been on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017, said "It's a good position to be in. League tables change every week, but we just need to keep doing what we're doing, take it one game at a time, get three points on the board, and that's all we can do.

"We've won today, we move on to next week and see how it goes.

"That's what happens when you get three points and you win games, it builds confidence, that grows, and it's only going to benefit us in the long run."
