Airdrie church deliver festive cheer to food bank Christmas appeal

KIND-HEARTED parishioners at an Airdrie church are spreading Christmas cheer with a special delivery to help vulnerable families.

Members of the congregation at Jackson Church in Petersburn and youngsters from the church’s youth organisation teamed up with the local community to deliver a festive haul in aid of this year’s Trussell Trust food bank Christmas appeal.

Caring minister, Reverend Kay Gilchrist, and her big-hearted team of Christmas elves, at the Petersburn church handed over their special delivery of festive food to the Airdrie foodbank to help desperate families this Christmas.

Rev Gilchrist said: "A huge thank you to John and Margaret Turnbull who deliver the donations each week and organised the pick up today.

"All of this during this miserable time in our land just shows Covid cannot destroy community spirit and love.

"You have made some families very very happy this Christmas and no words of gratitude will ever be enough from this wee Rev on the family's behalf."
