Airdrie boss returns positive Covid test and will miss East Fife match

Airdrie manager Ian Murray has received a positive Covid test and will miss Saturday's League One match with East Fife.

The Diamonds won three games in eight days over the festive period and are looking to continue their good form in Scotland's third tier.

But they'll have to do so without Murray who is now isolating after his positive test. Assistant manager and player Scott Agnew will take charge of the team alongside Bryan Prunty.

Airdrie's match with Queen's Park last month was postponed due to a Covid situation and they were hit with virus problems earlier in the season too.

Murray's men head into the match with the Bayview club third in League One and face Falkirk the following Saturday.

A Diamonds statement reads: "Unfortunately Ian will not be in the dug-out for Saturday’s match, having tested positive for Covid late this week.

"Scott Agnew and Bryan Prunty will look after first-team affairs in Ian’s absence.

"It goes without saying everyone at the club wishes the gaffer all the very best for a swift return."
