Airdrie manager Ian Murray says his fingers are crossed for striker Salim Kouider-Aissa after he picked up a knee injury.
The 25-year-old has featured 12 times in all competitions for the Diamonds this season but missed every game in November after sustaining the damage in October’s loss to Alloa Athletic.
Murray has now confirmed the former Livingston and Queen’s Park star has a knee issue, which has proven problematic.
While not knowing the full extent of the injury quite yet, Murray is hoping that Kouider-Aissa has avoided anything long-term.
He said: “We’re fine on the most part at the moment but we have something with big Salim. He’s still missing.
“We aren’t too sure how Salim is. We will have a better idea how he’s doing over the next five-10 days or so. It’s a knee knock which is frustrating for him, the team and the club as a whole.
“We will look after him to make sure he is okay.
“We’ve got to be really careful with him. As it’s a knee injury, they can sometimes be really innocuous, like Sal’s was against Alloa. It wasn’t an impact injury.
“We just need to make sure he gets the right treatment in terms of getting him back and putting him through his rehab as quick as we can.
“Sal is a big strong lad and he’s a vital part of our squad moving forward. The sooner we get him back, the better, as he gives us more options when he’s fit.”
There’s more positive news on 23-year-old Josh Kerr, however, in his comeback from injury. He’s been missing since October 23 and a win against Dumbarton, but could be available this month.
Murray added: “Josh Kerr has been missing and still is but he’s starting to come back into things now, which is great. We are certainly hopeful he will be back over the Christmas period, which adds to us.
“In terms of everyone else, we are actually in decent shape. There are lots of good options for us to go with.”
