Airdrie bank worker denies embezzling £18,000 from pensioners' accounts

A BANK worker has denied embezzling more than £18,000 from the accounts of four Airdrie pensioners.

Lisa Tocock, 39, of Faskine Avenue in Cairnhill, will go on trial at Airdrie Sheriff Court in March.

Tocock, who was absent from court when the case was called last week, intimated not guilty pleas.

It is alleged that Tocock, while working as an employee of the Bank of Scotland in Airdrie’s South Bridge Street, embezzled £7062 from the account of an elderly man, who is now deceased, between April and October 2016 .

It is further claimed she embezzled £1640 from the account of an 80-year-old woman between March and November 2016.

Tocock is also said to have taken £6950 from the account of a 69-year-old woman between July 2015 and July 2018, and £2900 from a 67-year-old woman’s account between March and July 2016.

All of the accounts were held at the Bank of Scotland.

On a joint motion between the Crown prosecutor and Tocock’s lawyer, the matter was continued for a further preliminary hearing on February 3 with trial set for March 2.

The Crown told the court it wished to consider its position following the deaths of two crucial prosecution witnesses.

The new trial dates were set by Sheriff Walter Mercer.
