Airdrie author to appear on BBC Scotland book show

Airdrie author Graeme Armstrong will feature on this Sunday’s episode of The Big Scottish Book Club.

He recalls his own experience of teenage gangs – which feature in his debut novel, The Young Team – in a discussion with fellow Lanarkshire writer, host Damian Barr.

It will also see members of Alloa book group Readers on the Run share their thoughts on Graeme’s work, which was published in March and is written in local slang and vernacular.

The theme of this week’s edition of the show is class, and it also includes author Jessica Fellowes discussing her Mitford Murders, Paul McVeigh on the working-class world of Belfast during the Troubles, and poetry from Courtney Stoddart.

Filmed at Hamilton town house, the hour-long show will be on the BBC Scotland channel at 10pm on this Sunday, November 29.
